When we first started publishing Wave magazine in 2009, the goal was simple. We wanted to provide readers with information they could use to live longer, healthier and happier lives.

Today, we at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority are taking another step towards achieving that objective by re-launching our bi-monthly print publication as an online-only magazine.

As you might expect, the new Wave - which can be found at www.wavemag.ca - is a lot like the old one. Just like its predecessor, the online publication features the attractive use of design and photographs to enhance the content. Plans are also underway to produce optimized versions of Wave for your tablet and smartphone.

Of course, the new Wave will continue to feature in-depth stories on a wide range of health issues.

The Summer issue posted today, for example, features an article about a Winnipeg research team that is working to unravel the mysteries of chronic brain disorders like dementia. You will also find a compelling story about a young woman who has benefited from recent efforts to enhance the pediatric epilepsy program at Health Science Centre Winnipeg's Children's Hospital.

Expert advice columns will also remain a staple of the online edition. The current issue, for example, includes a column on how to let nature enhance your mental health, as well as one on how to eat for a greener planet. As you might expect, the online edition of Wave will also have many of the interactive features often found in a digital magazine. Click around the website and you will find a slideshow on the importance of watching your sugar intake and videos on how to improve your posture. We'll be looking to add more interactive features in the future as we take full advantage of our new format.

But perhaps the best thing about the new digital edition is that it is now easier than ever to subscribe. Just click here to receive a newsletter every time we post a new issue.

All of these changes are designed to make Wave more useful, informative and accessible. So why not take a read through our latest issue and let me know what you think? You can reach me by email at wavemagmb@gmail.com. Hope to hear from you soon.
